The Panguna District was officially established in 2008. Soon after an old BCL workers residential 3-story flat was turn into an office and residential complex.
All began with the labour of local timber millers, builders and plumbers and so on.

The office complex is a unique structure in that, it houses the District Health Centre in the first floor, the Administration offices in the second floor and the public servants residential cottages (with showers and toilets) in the third floor.
